Paul Reynolds 1973 - 2023

RIP

It is with great sadness we hear today that our own dear member and friend Paul Reynolds has died.

Paul was a member of LCC since coming to Ireland in 1995. He played for our 1st XI and 2nd XI for many years as a wicket keeper batsman. We most recently saw him when he spoke at our Cricket Dinner in September about his time as an International Umpire.

There are wonderful pieces about Paul on www.cricketleinster.ie and tributes pouring in.

This by James Lucas :
Paul Reynolds’ presence was synonymous with camaraderie and unity in the world of Irish cricket. He was more than an official; he was a friend, a mentor, and a source of inspiration to many. His kindness, his humility, and his unwavering support made him a beloved figure among players, administrators, and fans alike. As we navigate the grief of losing Paul, we also recognize that the cricketing community has lost a giant whose contributions will be deeply missed. We will forever hold his memory close to our hearts and continue to draw inspiration from his dedication to the sport he loved so dearly.

It was privilege to know him. May his legacy serve as a reminder of the profound impact that one individual can have on an entire community. At the dinner Paul spoke about his love for LCC and how the irony of being a cricket umpire meant that he could generally no longer watch his own team and how much he missed us. He and Jen would come to help us on Sunday Mornings just because - even when their own children weren't training.

We are broken-hearted and our thoughts are with Jen, Rhys, Leuan and Lestyn.

Rest In Peace Paul
